Hi Annie I'll start the ball rolling.... My name is Betty Williamson, born in Buckhaven, married in 1963 to Bob Varney from Kirkcaldy, had 3 kids, Diane now 38, Robert now 36 and David now 32....lived in various areas of the Lang Toon...St. Clair Street, Sauchenbush, Dysart, Massereen Road and Invertiel Road before moving to yorkshire in 1982......worked in Littlewoods and Macays, was a home help for a few years too....I have seven grandchildren and have just become a great-gran at the ripe old age of 59 ....memories are too many to mention all at once but will start with the" China Shop" where we all used to meet off the various busses, and the "Troc Cafe" on the prom, "the Burma" "Ice Rink" "The Wheat Sheaf" (still there too) "the Raith" ....could go on all night so enough for now. cheers

Hi,

I've just joined and am happy to give a few bits and pieces! I'm originally a Cardenden lad. Married a Lang Toun Lass and lived in Hillcrest Avenue for 5 years before a couple of years in Dollar and then moving up here to Aberdeenshire 3 years ago. My Mum was from Kirkcaldy and was a Syme, related I think to various Birrels and others. Her family I think came from the St Clair Street area of town.

My fond memories of youth are mostly Cardenden centred but of Kirkcaldy in later youth the main focal points were the Saturday night haunts - Jackie-O, Tropicana etc.

Hi there Orson Carte, love that name, nice to have you visit the KB. I like Cardenden, maybe you will know the Robertsons who had a garage there, Harry Robertson was a friend of my fathers and I used to go stay there at holiday time. If Harry is still alive he will be around 90 years old, but he had a son who went into the business. His eldest daughter Carol was my friend and we used to ride our bikes from Cardenden to Kirkcaldy where I lived,I have fond memories of that time. I hope you are good at taking photos,we are just about ready to start our photo competion. Can't help with the cycling part, I don't know any cyclists. Hope you will be a regular visitor. If you have any items of interest you think would like to see in the KB send us an email, always looking for new items.

I had a few friends from Cardenden too and spent many good times at Bowhill Club, was there recently and it is still as good as it ever was, with a makeover it was really nice, and the drink a reasonable price .......a good time was had by all and I will be back as the saying goes

It would be nice to see old friends popping up here.

But while we wait may I recommed an excellent site for old school friends in Kirkcaldy ( nothing against this site Annie ) - www.friendsreunited.co.uk

I have already been in touch with dozens of people haven't seen since leaving good old KHS.

Only costs a few quid.

They also do - old work places - organizations - and even your family tree
