The star attraction at the Links Market 700 (2004) was the Giant Wheel.
I have 5 pictures of this (each under 30K) and I have tried to upload them from my local drive (as I was able to do when uploading my avatar), but I could not get it to work.
The forum could really do with a help file on uploading images and maybe guidelines on file sizes.

For others wishing to upload, the only way at the moment seems to be to upload them to your own webspace (usually available as part of the package when you signed up with your ISP but which is left unused by most users) and then specify the URL within the [img]tags.

EDIT 2005: The above comments applied to the Old Forum in use in 2004, NOT the current one.

Here the wheel is seen from in front of the 'soon to be closed' KwikSave supermarket.

The next two are seen from my living room window.

The wheel seen from the market itself

and finally the wheel towers above the rooftops when viewed down David Street from Swan Road.

Hope you enjoy.

Keith, these are fantastic, thank you, I know I'm not far away, only in Buckhaven but I appreciate good photography, and if it's local then all the more interesting. you must have a lovely view of the Forth from your window, I to have a good view of it from my flat as I live down near the shore

Hi Betty It great to see a bit of activity on this board after a long quiet spell.

Yes the view is fantastic and makes up for only having on-street parking and the dreaded yellow lines to contend with. We have lived in this house for nearly 25 years and have no intention of moving.

The best photo I have taken from the attic window is the one I have entered in the photo competition. There is always something going on in the Forth and we always keep a pair of binoculars handy. Three times we have seen dolphins pass along the coast just a few hundred yards out, but they are too far away to show up as much more than dots in a photo.
The shipping is also varied and last year we saw a 5 masted cruise ship that I identified (with the help of the net) as the "Wind Surf".

keith,

GREAT pics !

The uploading of images is restricted due to potential security issues with the php scripting language that this board is programmed in, hence while avatars are controlled, the inclusion of images within an actual post is not.

I believe there are some fixes for the problem coming soon, however you are right in saying that we need a plain English [Scottish] instruction file.

What I may do is create some webspace with an upload script so that members aren't paying for the bandwidth of serving the images from their own space whenever anyone views this forum.. and with some instructions as to what URL to put in their posts..

I actually tried to cover that originally by offering everyone FREE webspace, but it seems that no one is too interested in that.. but if anyone wants some space after reading this, let me know, we have plenty..

There are about half a dozen new 'sister' sites to this in the works, which will be accessible via the new portal.. Once the version one is published, it would be good to hear from everyone as to what we can do to make it more fun to visit.. ALL critiques are welcome.. I sound like a broken record, but stay tuned..

Cheers..

Thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't know what to do with it

Cheers, Helen
