Hi Everyone

I am back, had a really good time.Took some photos in Beveridge Park I couldn't believe the state of the fountain in the gardens, the Avery isn't there anymore, the gardens are still lovely but the fountain was terrible. When I get them developed I will post them on here.
I went up to the Highlands after Fife, my cousin lives in Balblair I was 5 the last time I was up there.

I went to Forres where my Greatgrandfather is buried and managed to find the grave thanks to the local gravedigger who took me up there and we searched for it, he had old maps of the graveyard and we pinpointed where it was, there was no gravestone, he was in a paupers grave, he was buried with Military Honours as he served with the 92nd Gordon Highlanders at Alma and Balaclava and during the Indian Mutiny you would think they could have paid for a headstone seen as he had served his country!! I quite like this geneology thing, it is very interesting as I have been walking in my ancestors footsteps.

Love Marjorie

Marjorie,

Sorry to disappoint you when you visited the Beveridge Park but the police get awfully suspicious of loiterers hanging about dark corners day after day - and it does get a bit cold at night. Furthermore, we had friends staying and I couldn't ignore them any longer. If you'd let me know in advance exactly when you were going to be there, I could have borrowed a posing pouch and popped up specially for you .

Glad you had a good time, Keith (Avery)

Hi Marjorie, nice to have you back and to hear you had a great time, looking forward to seeing the photos. I have some I will post of the High Street taken a few weeks ago, things just do not look the same. I wonder who is in charge of the Beveridge Park and why things are not so good there, they should be trying to make it better to entice people to come and see it, and want to come back again. How was the weather?.

For all ex-pats fo Kirkcaldy can you recognise where the pictures were taken some I do some I don't. Anyone take a guess.

Hi Keith

I will remember to let you know in plenty of time the next time I decide to come up, the posing pouch I must see

I recognised the places you posted Annie, Beveridge Park isn't that bad, it was just the state of the fountain that was pretty nasty. I remember it with those big goldfish.I heard they don't have the garden for the blind now, I didn't notice that as I didn't go along that far.

Love Marjorie

Hi Marjorie,

The animals and their enclosures + the birds in their aviary (note the spelling - It wisnae me!) disappeared about 3 years ago. I believe it was to comply with new European directives. If I remember correctly, it was something to do with the amount of space provided and there being human attendants there to cater for their needs. The cost of complying was considered too great and they were removed. Those at Letham Glen went as well (and I presume, from other sites in Fife also).

The fountain was actually restored by stonemasons a few years ago and was back in full working order. I cannot say I have been through that part of the park recently so I cannot comment on the present condition, but if as you say, it is in a poor state, then I can only presume that it has been vandalised. Unfortunately, the youth of today has little respect for the environment.
